Meet Stavros and his Family

tavros Taverna is one of the first tavernas in Moraitika. They have been serving clients here since 1981. The taverna remains loyal to its traditional flavours of Greek and Mediterranean cuisine. What characterises Stavros Taverna is the family, the food and the atmosphere.

The owner Stavros – who started his working life as a farmer, has been involved in tourism in Moraitika since it began 1962. He was a professional waiter trained by the famous Miramare Hotel – the first hotel in Moraitika !

Stavros travelled abroad to such countries as Switzerland, Germany and the United Kingdom with the Miramares’ parent company working for many years in 5 star establishements gaining new culteral experiences and expanding his cuisine skills.

Stavros’ wife Voula, was the Chef-de-Cuisine from 1981 – when it first opened, until 2014 when his son Constantinos (who by this time is a professionally trained chef) took the helm in the kitchen and remains there to this day.

Stavros’ daughter Alexandra has worked in the taverna all of her life. As well as going to college and complete her education at University, Alexandra along with her mother Voula, are now the familiar front of house faces that will always greet you with a smile .

Stavros Taverna is truly a family-owned and family-ran taverna that typifies the hard work, dedication and family spirit all Corfiots have.

Stavros and the family would like to extend a warm welcome to all guests to the taverna and in particular to our many friends who have visited us over many many years.
